| After two hard-fought victories over the promising Tamira Paszek and the emotionally fragile yet capable former top-fiver Anna Chakvetadze, Dokic has proved that she can play big-time, mentally tough tennis again. But Wozniacki is a calmer sort than her other two foes and she’s also been playing at a higher level. Dokic has to slam the door quickly if she wasn’t to reach the fourth round for the first time. | One of the true up and comers on tour, the much publicised Danish teenager is seeded 11th and on the verge of cracking the top 10. With three career titles and wins over other young talents like Agnieszka Radwanska, Alize Cornet and Anna Chakvetadze, she could be on the verge of something special. |
| Her three-set win over Chakvetadze showed that even when she’s being pushed by a tricky player, she can be resilient. The 25-year-old trusts her lethal groundstrokes and now has a world of experience gained from the school of hard knocks. | Reached the quarters at Auckland and then let go of three match points in a 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6 loss in Sydney. |
| Dokic is a confident player and she's very high on her own abilities now. Her forehand has been deadly and her return of serve is to be feared. | Clean ground stroking, a good head on her shoulders and the ability to change direction. Wozniacki owns substantial power off the ground, is a fine mover and if she can stay calm on the big points, the 19-year-old will threaten the top 5 this year. |
| No real change is necessary, only minor improvements in consistency. Dokic is at her best when playing with pure instinct, ripping at balls off the ground and at poorly placed second serves. But she must serve better than she did against Chakvetadze, stay positive and invite the crowd into the match. | Dokic could very well be a little worn down after two long matches, so Wozniacki has to move her foe around as much as possible, keep a high percentage of first serves in and stay away from the Aussie’s dangerous forehand. She can’t allow Dokic to do all the dictating. |
| The two have never played but they do share Serena Williams in common, who is 4-0 against Dokic and barely survived the Danish teen last week. | |
