Mobile App Live Streaming

Whether you are attending the Australian Open or are simply an Australian tennis fan, Optus, in partnership with Channel 7, Tennis Australia and Samsung are serving up all the action from the Australian Open straight to your smartphone device.

Australian tennis fans can access the live stream of Channel 7’s coverage of the Australian Open 2013 championships  via the tournament’s official mobile apps. The live stream, presented by Optus, features centre court matches on Rod Laver Arena, and is available on the popular Australian Open iPhone and Android apps developed in partnership with technology partner IBM.

“In 2013, working closely with Tennis Australia has meant that fans will undoubtedly receive better access than ever before to all the live action throughout the duration of tournament” said Mrs Kohlman.

“We are delighted to be able to offer fans a live stream this year. The tournament app is one of the most popular platforms for our coverage, and the live component provides a complete experience for fans,” said Tennis Australia’s digital and publishing manager Kim Trengove.

The apps are free to download and currently enjoy a top-rating position in the iTunes app store and Google Play store.

 Along with access to the live stream, the apps also include:

  • Live scoring and completed match results from Melbourne Park
  • Daily schedule of play and tournament draws
  • Latest news and player biographies from the tournament
  • Ball-by-ball commentary on AO Radio
  • Latest photos and other video on demand clips including highlights, player interviews and exclusive previews of up coming action

The Event Guide contains maps of the precinct and extensive information about shopping, dining options, travel and tournament facts. Fans can also purchase Australian Open souvenirs from the mobile shop.

Live Streaming: Channel 7's coverage may at times be delayed or include replays. Only available on compatible 3G or 4G handsets accessing the official Australian Open application via 3G, 4G or WiFi networks.

Data Usage: Data download fees will apply when downloading and using the official Australian Open application. Live streaming data usage is free for Optus customers streaming through their mobile on the Optus 3G or 4G network. Other users will incur data charges for live streaming as per their contract with their mobile or data service provider.
