The best value ticket in world sport will remain at $29 for Australian Open 2010.
Tournament organisers announced that the majority of Australian Open tickets would remain at 2009 levels or less.
Among the initiatives for AO2010 are:
• a new family pass for Hisense Arena
• a fixed price of $49 for all sessions at Hisense Arena (a decrease of up to $30 for some sessions)
• a range of new discounted series packages including the return of the Final Five package
“We have gone through a rigorous ticketing review and believe we have come up with a pricing structure that has enormous value but also capitalises on the huge demand for the biggest sporting event in the world in January,” Tennis Australia Chief Executive Officer Steve Wood explained today.
“Our objectives are to host an amazing tennis event for as many fans as possible, keep it affordable for anyone who wants to go, and to ensure a substantial source of revenue to channel back into the sport of tennis in Australia,” he said.
Australian Open 2010 series packages will go on sale from October 7 to 11 with single session tickets going on sale on October 12.
The price of the Ground Pass, as well as day and night sessions at Rod Laver Arena, will all stay at 2009 levels for the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the first week, as well as the quartefinals, semifinals and finals.
The existing Family Ground Pass, the After Five Pass and the Five Day Ground Pass will all stay at 2009 prices.
The Friday night session at Rod Laver Arena, as well as the Saturday, Sunday and Monday sessions will all increase slightly, primarily due to the extraordinary demand.
Prices of all sessions at Hisense Arena from the first Wednesday to the second Monday will be reduced to a uniform $49.90. This is a decrease in session price ranging from $5 to $30.
The new Hisense Arena Family Pass will be offered for $149.90 for a family of four.
