In one of his many roles within the sport he managed and coached a 13-year-old Hewitt on one of the Adelaide youngster’s first overseas tours, guiding him though Europe for six weeks.
Over the years, David moved to roles as Executive Director of Tennis Tasmania and a Tennis Australia manager and he and Lleyton remained good friends, their paths crossing at Davis Cup ties.
In February 2007 they established a business partnership when David was appointed manager of Lleyton Hewitt Marketing.
