VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT

You'll love every piece of VictoriaVictoria The Place To Be

The Victorian Government is proud to be associated with the Australian Open Tennis Championships.

The Government is investing $1.5-million a year over three years to increase the tourism benefits generated for Victoria by the Australian Open Tennis Championships.

Much of this work has been done in the Asia/Pacific region, in line with a strategy to position the tournament as the Grand Slam of Asia/Pacific.

The Australian Open Tennis Championships are broadcast to more than half a billion homes in 192 territories worldwide, presenting an ideal opportunity to boost Melbourne and Victoria’s profile internationally.

The funding package also includes tourism strategies to boost overall domestic and international visitation and exposure for the event and the destination.

The Victorian Government will be working with the Australian Open Tennis Championships to increase exposure generated for Victoria through domestic and international broadcast.

The Australian Open Tennis Championships are worth almost $210 million to the Victorian economy and last year generated over 577,000 visitor nights.

The Australian Open's popularity has soared over the past 10 years, with a 51 per cent increase in international visitors and an increased economic benefit of 168 per cent since 1995.

The Brumby Government is proud to be supporting the Australian Open Tennis Championships, one of the highlights of Victoria’s amazing calendar of
annual and one-off international events.
