    Entertainment – Performer Biographies

    Jimmy Barnes

    Jimmy Barnes

In the '70s and '80s Jimmy was the wildest, loudest and most popular rock 'n roll star in the country. In the 1990s he reached mega-stardom with back to back No.1 albums in both soul and rock genres. His career as both a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the legendary Cold Chisel has made Jimmy Barnes one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time.

    Daryl Braithwaite

    Daryl Braithwaite

In a distinguished career spanning more than 40 years, Daryl Braithwaite is one of Australia's award-winning premier performers. His initial success as a singer came with Sherbet, a band which forever remains in the history books of Australian music. Following the groups' success, Daryl returned in a very big way as a solo performer with the release of the phenomenally successful album Edge, which spent well over a year in the charts, spawning four hit singles.

    Busby Marou

    Busby Marou

Rockhampton's favourite sons released their debut self-titled album on 24 June. Their album includes the emotive first single Biding My Time, which is steadily finding its way into the nation's consciousness. The quality of the songs, Tom Busby's cheeky on stage presence and Jeremy Marou's freakish musical ability on all instruments combine to deliver a distinctly Australian way of sharing stories.

    Eskimo Joe

    Eskimo Joe

The boys from Freo can't wait to get back to Melbourne and the Australian Open where they will deliver a show in true Eskies style. Their fifth studio album Ghosts of the Past was released in August 2011 and features the hit single Love Is A Drug along with Echoes and When We Were Kids. The album sees the band reconnecting with its rock roots.

    Jason Singh

    Jason Singh

Jason is no stranger to success. His career as lead vocalist with Taxiride was punctuated with eight top 10 hits, gold, platinum and multi-platinum records, ARIA awards and countless sold out national and international awards. His first solo pop gem I Can Dream reveals a tale of love, loss and pain.

    Josh Pyke

    Josh Pyke

Josh is one of Australia's premier singer-songwriters. Known for his ability to weave intelligent lyrics with warm melodies and quirky song structures, Josh is a modern-day storyteller whose unique and evocative use of both words and music places him in a league of his own. After a year-long sabbatical, Josh returned to the 'circuit' in September to celebrate the release of his eagerly awaited third album, Only Sparrows.

    Lowrider

    Lowrider

Lowrider is one of the most popular bands to come out of Adelaide. Since forming in 2004, Lowrider has performed at the county's biggest festivals and toured with some of the world's greatest acts including Christina Aguilera, Lupe Fiasco, Alicia Keys, Hilltop Hoods and Lionel Richie. 2011 has seen Lowrider play an array of Australia's most renowned festivals including Big Day Out, Pyramid Rock, Blues and Roots and A Day on The Green, in addition to supporting the amazing John Legend nationally and embarking on their own critically acclaimed national tour.

    Mark Seymour

    Mark Seymour

Mark Seymour has a new album, Undertow, arguably his finest. According to singer Stephen Cummings, it's "what I call the Australian coastal sound, a four-piece-matter-of-fact-guitar band, like Richard Clapton meets Jackson Brown at a car park above a beach with breaking surf. When The Kings Of Leon turn fifty this is what they might sound like."

    The Potbelleez

    The Potbelleez

Australian APRA award winning dance sensations The Potbelleez emerged from their Bondi Beach 'Wonderland' studio in 2011 where they had been writing and recording their second album, Destination Now, which was released in May dropping three massive platinum and gold hit records in its wake. One of Australia's most loved and recognised bands of today, The Potbelleez are also regulars on the festival circuit.

    Tim Freedman

    Tim Freedman

Tim's first album in five years, 'Australian Idle' was released on 4 November. Free of all expectations, Freedman recorded an unabashedly joyful '70s piano pop album. From Elton John to 10CC and back to The Beach Boys, his influences are on his sleeve. Keyboard heavy and rich with intricate backing vocals, his band of two girls and two guys features two band leaders in their own right, Heath Cullen and Amy Vee. On bass is the renowned Zoe Hauptmann, and on drums Dave Hibbard.

    Washington

    Washington

Washington, first name Megan, is a real musical artist. A beautiful artist. One that you don't come by often. One who doesn't rely on the brilliance of others to present her for popular world consumption. She is an artist in her own unique realm. Her music pure shining pop with vaudeville jazz, burlesque rock, cinematic country, beautiful exquisite heart- broken blues, all delivered to you, the listener, with a natural musical aplomb and love of melody.

    The Vaudeville Smash

    The Vaudeville Smash

The Vaudeville Smash began with three brothers, an intense love of good music and a desire to the give the kids something they'd never seen or heard before. Melodies, harmonies, infuriatingly catchy hooks and feet-tapping beats - songwriting steeped in the traditions of yacht rock, disco and early electro but with a fresh and thoroughly unique approach. With their uncanny knack of transforming a dance floor and infectious energy, they've been leaving audiences stunned across the nation.

    TV Rock

    TV Rock

There are few boxes left for TV ROCK to tick. Double ARIA Award winners, the duo, comprised of GQ DJ Of The Year Grant Smillie and Ivan Gough, have been dominating the charts for the best part of a decade with their club anthems that always seem to have a knack for spreading far beyond the dance floor. Since being listed by IDJ and Mixmag in '08 as the ones to watch, the boys have churned out hit after hit – starting with their debut single Flaunt It and followed by no less than 13 number No.1 positions on the ARIA Club Chart for their originals and remixes

    Bluejuice

    Bluejuice

An aggressive mix of pop, rock, hip hop, electro and disco, Bluejuice are in their element making you dance in an unselfconscious way. The combination of drums, bass and keys and two harmonizing singers sounds unique, but it's the violence, energy and humour with which the band attack their music that makes them stand out. Latest single 'Broken Leg' sums up the attitude at work - cathartic and silly, emotionally complicated, mental and sweaty. Bluejuice turn entertainment into a contact sport.
